Diplômé de la London School of Economics et professeur invité à l'Université du Luxembourg, il a pendant longtemps été le discret, mais efficace directeur général du ministère des Finances. À ce titre, il a rempli bon nombre de mandats de président de conseils d'administration dans des sociétés où l'État était actionnaire (BGL BNP Paribas, SNCI, Post Luxembourg). Lauréat du Top 100 Paperjam des décideurs économiques les plus influents en 2012, il est Gouverneur de la Banque centrale du Luxembourg depuis 2013, et à ce titre, entre autres, siège au Conseil des gouverneurs de la Banque centrale européenne (BCE).

A graduate of the London School of Economics and visiting professor at the University of Luxembourg, he was for a long time the discreet but effective Director General of the Ministry of Finance. In this capacity, he chaired a number of boards of directors of companies in which the State was a shareholder (BGL BNP Paribas, SNCI, Post Luxembourg). Winner of the Paperjam Top 100 most influential economic decision-makers in 2012, he has been Governor of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg since 2013, and in this capacity, among others, sits on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Gaston Reinesch ist eine Schlüsselfigur im öffentlichen Leben des Landes, der seine Kommunikation sparsam, aber mit völliger Tonfreiheit betreibt.
